A stroke is a medical emergency that requires rapid action. The most common symptoms include sudden facial weakness, arm weakness and speech disorders. Early detection of strokes and immediate therapy are crucial. In an emergency, call the emergency services on 144.

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted. This can be caused by a blocked blood vessel (ischaemic stroke) or by bleeding in the brain (haemorrhagic stroke). The consequences of a stroke can range from mild impairment to severe disability. In many cases, rehabilitation is an important step on the road to recovery.

Berner Neurologie specialises in helping you prevent strokes. To reduce the individual risk of a stroke and to prevent further events after a stroke or a transient ischaemic attack (secondary prevention), we offer comprehensive examinations and advice.

A stroke can affect life in the long term. We offer aftercare and support for you and your families to ensure the best possible quality of life. In some cases, botulinum toxin (Botox) injections can be administered to reduce increased muscle tension (spasticity).

If you have questions about stroke or need support, do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you and to offer you the best possible care and support on your road to recovery and stroke prevention.
